Forest High School Band Program
SINCE 1922
Heidi Weaver is a graduate of North Marion High school, having been co-valedictorian of her class. She attended the University of Florida to pursue a degree in Music Education. She took over as the Band Director of Forest High School in 1991 and began a new period of growth within the band program.
The 1980's had seen a large amount of director turnover at FHS, six directors in ten years, none staying longer than 3 years. Mrs. Weaver seemed to break the streak having remained at the helm for five years. During her time, the band enrollment increased and performance ratings improved. The band recieved its first Superior at District Concert Festival since 1982. The marching band during this time also began to receive Superior Ratings, the first in 1993. Enrollment in the band increased to over 60 members with an additional 20+ members as part of the LadyCat Dancers. The band travelled to Atlanta, GA to perform in the Atlanta Music Festival. Both the jazz band and the concert band recieved superior ratings and the FHS Jazz Band recieved the award for "Top Band of the Day".

At the end of the 1995 school year, Ms. Weaver left Forest High School to pursue an opportunity to teach music overseas in China.
